Florida Born. California Raised. Texas Settled.
Somehow Canadian.
J. Watt.
Watt, like the metric unit of power. This oddball was the product of immigrants, exotic immigrants, from the land of Canada. They settled in the distinguished state of Florida, where Watt was born. Two years later, Watt’s mom, a budding television editor, was offered a job in San Fransisco where she would go on to win nine Emmy awards.
Watt considered a career in television, notably VoiceOver acting. She was professionally trained under Samantha Paris at VoiceTrax, taking lessons with Bob Bergen, the modern voice of Porky Pig, and Ned Lott, a casting director for Disney.
But silly little Watt wanted to live out her childhood dream of being a veterinarian. She received a degree in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from UC Santa Cruz and worked as a veterinary technician as she saved up for veterinary school. She specialized in oncology, surgery and internal medicine, then took a second job as a Clinical Researcher for a small biotech company studying human precursors to esophageal cancer.
The problem was, Watt couldn’t stop writing. She wrote between classes, during lunch breaks and unfortunately, instead of studying. She found meaning in the shape of mist, the color of mountain sunrises and the smell of golden rolling hills. Meaning that compelled her to explore existential philosophy in the guise of fiction. Watt, this little metric unit of power, discovered the power of words, and power of fiction.

Other Interests
In 2021, Watt tried the traditional publishing route and had her soul crushed. To mask the pain, she started running sixteen miles a week and training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. One could argue query rejection is good for your health.
Apart from that, she loves cooking, painting, animals, and studying black holes — they make a good argument to just believe in magic. She’s an avid fan of the Lex Fridman Podcast, finding a lot of story inspiration in his content. She also spends too much time watching PBS SpaceTime.
Inspiration also comes from music and nature. Particularly music, which has the ability to literally make scenes appear in her head.
Authors that have inspired her style and atheistic are J.R.R. Tolkien, J.K. Rowling, Tim O’Brien, Kurt Vonnegut and Maya Angelou.
She lives near Austin, TX, with her dashing husband, hilarious daughter, two troublesome dogs and a dragon.
