Candlelight
Little candle, keep filling us with light.
Don’t give up, when those waves do roll.
Tossing you to and fro.
Your light may dim and darken, but don’t let it go out.
Cus’ far on the dark horizon, over the churning waves,
There’s another candle wondering, “why fight”?
On this course uncharted, in this dark ship’s cabin.
Yes, you are alone.
But there’s another candle fighting to keep going.
So don’t give up little candle, when the ship is keeling.
It’s okay to dim.
It’s okay to fade.
It’s okay to pause.
To find your footing, hold your flame so close,
A feathery blip on a blackened wick.
Because, when you let that light go — fade off in smoke.
All that’s left is a memory, a fading red ember.
And the world will know.
It’s so very dark it is without your stubborn light.
So take your time.
Right your feet. Stand straight again.
And that wick exposed, by that rolling boat,
Will fuel a flame so bright.
Fight, little candle, fight.
Because, if you overcome the darkness.
And become that towering flame, burning through the pain.
Then far out on that ocean’s horizon.
Another candle will see your light,
And burn, just as bright.
